Bandon, OR
Of course the first thing you need to do when you hit the coast is get some Dungeness Crab. At least that’s what Bandon, OR wants you to think when you pass by Tony’s Crab Shack
They were right. We went back twice!
Bandon is a charming, quaint, coastal town filled with stunning views, wonderful people, and great food. According to a local, Eugene, it’s often cloudy, windy, cold, and rainy. The water is too cold to swim in. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted in a town, and more!
After two days in Bandon, it was time to continue north. We eventually setup camp outside of Pacific City, OR.
Cape Kiwanda
Our next stop was Cape Kiwanda, known for it’s giant rock off the coast…it’s was packed with people. So we quickly got out of there to find a less crowded beach. We landed on McPhillip’s Beach just down the road. We were even able to drive the Jeep down the coastline!
I don’t know what it was, but i was feeling inspired to finally pop the big question. I mapped out this cool spot to propose. A temporary peninsula created by the tide. We walked over there and about 100 yards down the beach I spotted a group of older ladies walking towards us. I figured they’d be behind us by the time I was proposing, so I waited to let them pass. Well lucky for me they decided to stop right behind us and wade in the tide pool, fishing out “cool rocks” and splashing around. I had to resort to small talk about the weather and pace around in a circle while I waited for them to move along. I’ve attached a 100% accurate to scale visual diagram that was not done with a trackpad, for easier parsing.
I think Jess figured out what was up pretty quickly…oh well! It makes for a good story!
Port Angeles & Port Townsend
We spent the next few days working our way up the rest of the Oregon Coast, spending our first night as fiances at Cape Disappointment. Really it’s a place. We made it up to Port Angeles, blasting right through Olympic National Park (it probably wasn’t even that cool), as we had a wedding to get to!
The next day we woke up bright and early to catch the ferry from Port Townsend to Coupeville.
Sedro-Woolley, WA
Finally we made it to our one scheduled stop on the trip for a wedding! The wedding was amazing and the venue was stunning. We set up camp right next to the venue and camped right on site that night.
Anacortes, WA
After the wedding we headed to Anacortes, WA. Another port town. We ended up spending three nights here, one in an AirBnb and two camping. I got some good work done in a bookshop/coffee shop. Jess found some cool hikes in the area. It was good to unwind and relax.
Bellingham, WA
After relaxing in Anacortes, we were back on the road. Our next stop, Bellingham.
